Dr. Nanni Baker earned her B.A. in 1986 from Colorado State University in German Language. After graduation she taught German for the Department of Defense schools in Wiesbaden, Germany. From 1988 - 1991, she attended the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, graduating with a D.D.S.. In addition, she received a Health Profession Scholarship which enabled her to serve in the United States Army Dental Corps as a Captain from 1991 to 1994. She is very proud to have served her country.
Following her tour in Wurzburg Germany, she completed her certificate of Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1996.
In September of 1996 Dr Baker began working regularly in El Paso as well as opening her private practice in Boerne Texas. Dr Baker and Dr Maldonado have been working together in El Paso since 2003 and together opened The Dental Ark in November of 2008.
Dr Baker and her husband Bo enjoy ranching and raising both horses and brahman cattle. Dr Baker's passion is riding dressage on her mares Bettina and Bonita both of which she bred! She is also a member of the United States Dressage Federation and the United States Equestrian Federation. When she is not at the office you'll be able to find her at the barn or spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her faith and family are what Dr Baker is most proud of.
Dr Baker is Certified with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, El Paso District Dental Society, Southwest Pediatric Dental Association, San Antonio Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and Greater Dallas Pediatric Dental Society. Dr Baker has been honored to be selected by her peers as a Texas Monthly Super Dentist in 2004, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Dr Baker has also served on the Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)Border Rates and Expenditures Advisory Committee and is currently a reviewer for the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.
Dr. Baker is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Siu was born and raised in Southern California. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science from the University of California, Irvine and earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry. Following dental school, she furthered her education with a two-year residency program to specialize in pediatric dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center of San Antonio.
Dr. Siu is an active member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and California Society of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Siu enjoys giving back to the community by organizing health fairs and going on dental mission trips.
Dr. Siu enjoys developing relationships with children and their families. Her goal is to provide a positive dental experience to your child while executing integrity driven work. The aspect of pediatric dentistry she loves most is the ability to put children at ease through engaging conversation, singing, and making balloon animals!
While away from the office Dr. Siu can be found at playing basketball, running, cycling baking, and spending quality time with friends, family, & her dogs.
Dr. Maureen Poux always knew she would work with children. Her mission is to create a dental atmosphere where children feel safe, loved, and not intimidated in the dental office. Dr. Poux feels that it is important to get to know the children while assessing their specific dental needs. She takes her time to educate patients on proper oral health care. Dr. Poux loves to hear the opinions of her young patients, what scares them, what they know about their dental health, and what their interests are. Her goal is to establish clear communication with parents and create a unique dental experience that leaves families trusting the dentist and eager to return.
Dr. Poux was born in Cincinnati and grew up mostly on the east coast. She completed her undergraduate collegiate studies at Howard University in Washington, DC. She then went on to attend dental school at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia. She later trained at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rutgers University), where she received the distinction as a specialist in pediatric dentistry.
Dr. Poux continuously studies advanced concepts and techniques each year in topics related to pediatric dentistry alongside the nation's foremost pediatric dentists. Dr. Poux is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Houston Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Texas Dental Association, and Greater Houston Dental Society. She is also certified in Basic Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
Dr. Poux provides dental care to children residing in an orphanage called Foyer Espoir Pour Les Enfants, located in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The orphanage is owned and operated by her mother. She completed her first dental mission in Haiti by herself, seeing over 40 children. She loves completing dental work abroad. Dr. Poux believes that all children both in the US and abroad, deserve to be treated by a dentist who cares, who has patience, and makes dentistry fun.
Dr. Poux loves living in the Houston area. She enjoys spending time with family and friends. She enjoys strength training. She loves running, especially in Memorial Park, and spin cycling. She also dances Brazilian samba with the local dance group, LD Dance company. She enjoys art, gardening, traveling, and photography.
Roberto Loar DDS grew up in North East Texas and even though he didn't have any family in the dental field he knew he wanted to be a dentist and work with kids from an early age. After going to dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, Dr. Loar decided to practice as a general dentist outside of Dallas before ultimately deciding to go back to residency for pediatrics. Dr. Loar did his specialty training in Laredo through a satellite program of San Antonio's dental school. He later decided he wanted to explore the western part of the state and has been practicing at Stevenson's Dental Ark in El Paso since then. Dr. Loar loves working with kids in the dental setting and traveling, both of which have led him to pursue international dental mission trips every chance he gets. He has traveled to over 10 countries providing free dental services to those in need.
