Our staff and team of pediatric dentists have experience working with children who have special needs. We take great pride in providing thorough oral healthcare to children including those who may require special attention and specialized care. From preventative pediatric dentistry to dental restorations, we work to ensure the comfort of all of our patients.
Good oral health among special needs children and adults can sometimes be hard to manage for caregivers, with cooperation often being the biggest obstacle. We have the knowledge, care and compassion, and facility that can give your loved ones the optimal oral health they need and deserve, that in turn, gives them the best chance at overall health. Everything starts in the mouth.
Finding a skilled pediatric dentist for special needs child can sometimes be a challenge. Fortunately, our pediatric dental specialists have advanced training beyond dental school that allows them to interact positively with children with special needs. This includes using behavior management solutions and sedation techniques that can help your child feel safe and relaxed. Children with special needs often require extra attention and our team works diligently to ensure their comfort.
Depending on your child's unique situation, he or she may be more sensitive than other children to unfamiliar people and places. Some children are also more sensitive to sounds and smells. At our practice, we believe in establishing long-term relationships with the families we treat and by familiarizing your child with our practice and our team, we can help promote a more positive and enjoyable experience. Our office is fully equipped to accommodate all special needs children, allowing us to administer care in an environment that's comfortable for your child. Our staff members and dentists work closely with parents to develop a personalized dental care plan that meets your child's unique needs.
We have the patience and understanding of your loved one's medical needs that you look for in a dentist. We are able to assist most of our special needs patients in-office but also do take some of our patients to the hospital in certain circumstances. By providing a gentle and serene atmosphere, our team will interact with your child in such a way that he or she will feel appreciated and valued. We will consider your child's medical and mental health history when performing routine checkups and dental procedures. Once familiarity has been established, dental visits often become easier for your child, and in many cases, your child will grow fond of our compassionate and fun team.
If you have a special needs child or a child with dental anxiety, we invite you to discuss your concerns with one of our dentists. The more information our team has about your child, the better we can tailor our services to meet his or her needs. We thrive on feedback and information from parents and welcome you to inform our team of anything that you feel will enhance your child's experience at our office.
Both of our offices now offer the "Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN) Services Program". This is a program through Medicaid for up to ages 21.This program helps children with special health-care needs and people of any age with cystic fibrosis.
Because the CSHCN Services Program is the payer of last resort, all applicants must also apply for the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Medicaid.
Let us help you ease the anxiety with finding a dentist to meet your needs. To book an appointment for a checkup or cleaning, feel free to contact one of our offices at your earliest convenience.
